Changing Minds & Connecting with Voters

Get ready for the midterms with the Working Families Party! Learn or deepen your canvassing and phone banking skills and learn how deep canvassing can help persuade and win votes. In the first of a series of trainings, learn how minds change, tips for applying deep canvassing to your voter outreach, and practice with fellow canvassers and phonebankers.

First time with voter outreach? This session is a great entryway to building your confidence. Whether youโ€™re looking to brush up on your skills, reconnect with voter outreach, or are a seasoned vet, this session will get you ready for the doors and phones. (Door knocking technique lessons not included.

Meet Your Facilitator: Sam Chavez (she/they/he) is a storyteller, organizer, and curious human. After 15+ years at global advertising agencies, she founded the roots of change agency, a communications agency and media ecosystem for activists, organizers, and communicators. Her political career began as an Obama delegate at the Texas State Convention in 2008. More recently she trained and organized with Swing Left, The Bay Area Coalition, and the Arizona Native Democrats in 2020, 2022, & 2024. Sam is a two spirit (trans & indigenous) activist whoโ€™s passionate about a livable planet & equitable societies.
