Have you noticed the stories coming out of Hollywood these days? A comedy about a not-too-distant future LA where you can legally murder lottery winners, an undefined civil war in the United States, another Gladiator movie glorifying the patriarchal and deeply unequal society of Rome, a musical about a madman, and lots of recycled stories (why do we need a live action Stitch?!).

The film student in me can’t help but ask....
Why are these the stories we are telling now?
